altoHiway BMW Seloc Challenge

Updates to the car

With a little spare time between the June 5th and July 10th races we've made a few modifications

New racing spec battery

The old battery was knackered and had only been thrown in to get the car running, for safety and weight benefits we've installed a special racing battery which is designed not to leak in the event of an accident.

Clutch slave cylinder replaced

We had some big problems before the last race where we replaced the clutch Master cylinder (the one which attached to the clutch pedal), after we replaced this all seemed fine however while working on the car between races I noticed fluid collecting on the gearbox area under the car. It turns out the clutch slave cylinder seal had split and so no clutch again. New slave cylinder ordered and installed and a spare master and slave cylinder are now in the racing spares box just in case!

Tarting up

I was never too happy with the old black bumpers and as they say idle-hands.... it needed a bit of a pep up, the grill has been replaced and painted altoHiway blue, along with the spoilers front and rear and the bumper changed to corporate orange. I'm just waiting on the front numberplate now to complete the job

Replace brake fluid

I think we managed to boil some of the brake fluid last race, the pedal was getting extremely spongey towards then end. We were running on DOT4 brake fluid, as an upgrade we've flushed out all the DOT4 and replaced with DOT5.1 which has a higher boiling point
